In the Laboratory of Advanced Studies in Solar Radiation and Simulation (LEARSS), is performed advance research and technological development in the study of the solar resource, as well as the study of the radiation-matter interaction; specifically in the development of selective coatings for the optical-thermal conversion of solar utilization systems. Non-imaging optical systems for the use of the solar resource as a source of heat and power are designed and characterized and intelligent radiometers are developed for the prediction of the solar resource. The projects carried out in the LARSS aim to increase the efficiency of optical-thermal conversion of solar utilization devices and improve the penetration of this technology in the country's energy matrix. Likewise, specialized courses in optical design of non-image and use of the solar resource are offered. LEARSS offers highly specialized equipment and human resources for the design, development and characterization of solar thermal systems.
