Laboratory 1110

(BUILDING G)

Objective

This laboratory located in the G building is devoted to optical non destructive testing in the biomedical and engineering areas with a multi disciplinary point of view. Two of the main used techniques are: digital holographic interferometry (DHI) and the optical coherence tomography (OCT).

1. Equipment

Illumination sources

  • Lasers of 0.02, 0.05, 0.07, 0.1, 1 y 10 Watts
  • Benchtops SLD at 840nm - 10 and 20mW
  • LEDS at different wavelengths

Sensors

  • High speed cameras
  • sCMOS camera
  • High resolution monochrome cameras USB, firewire, GigaE and camera link

Others

  • Spectral OCT system
  • Leika and modular microscope system
  • Metallography mounting
  • Holographic tables
  • VIS and NIR optics
  • Sets of micro bench

2. Optical non destructive testing

2.1 Surface inspection (DHI)

Displacement and stiffness study in a metallic plate.

Study in primary feathers of a migratory bird.

Vibration analysis in a large area screen.

Interferometric signal from a membrane recorded at 8000 frames per second.

2.2 Internal inspection (OCT)

Embedded particles counting in composite polymers.

Porcine cornea internal displacements under simulated pressure change.

Volume tomographic signal for damaged/contaminated vitreous humor.

Micro fluid study using Doppler OCT.
