Alexander Kir’yanov was born 18.12.1962 in the former Soviet Union (now – Russian Federation), Moscow. From 1998, A.V.Kir’yanov served as a Titular Investigator “B” at the Centro de Investigaciones en Optica (Dept. “Lasers”), now (beginning from 2003) – Titular Investigator “C” (Dept. “Photonics”).

Steps of carrier: 1980 – has graduated from the Normal school with the Gold Medal. 1980 – has participated with the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Physics Dept.). 1986 – has graduated from the University with M.D. (Dept. “Optics and Spectroscopy”). 1987 – has participated with the National General Physics Institute (Russian Academy of Sciences); last time (until 1998) – Mayor Investigator. 1993 – has obtained the Award of the International Science Foundation (“Soros’s Fund”). 1995 – has obtained Ph.D in Optics and Laser Physics in the same Institute (the Dissertation title - “Study of Nonlinear Absorption Anisotropy in Laser Crystals LiF:F2-, YAG:Cr4+ and YAG:V3+”). 1998 – has obtained the Award “The Best Young Scientist’s Project” given by the Russ. Acad. Sci. 1998 – has participated with the Centro de Investigaciones en Optica (México). 1998 – has obtained the Catedra Patrimonial de Excelencia, Level II (CONACYT, México); 2000 – has been nominated as an Investigador Nacional of the National System of Investigators (SNII, México) – Level I; 2003 - Investigador Nacional of the SNII (Level II, México); 2007 - Investigador Nacional of the SNII (Level III, the highest in México).

A.V.Kir’yanov is a co-author of more than 180 publications in the leading journals and a few chapters in scientific books on laser physics. He has participated in more than 70 international conferences, many times with invited talks. A.V.Kir’yanov has 4 patents (Russian Federation, USA, and Mexico). His works are cited in around 1500 scientific publications and Ph.D. thesis. A.V.Kir’yanov has been a principal (or key) investigator in more than 15 scientific projects realized in Russia and México and also in a few international scientific and technological projects (USA, Spain, United Kingdom, India, etc.). A.V.Kir’yanov has been a supervisor of 7 Ph.D. theses.

A.V.Kir’yanov has been an invited presenter or lector in many institutions and universities of the World, for instance, in Hungary (Central Research Institute for Physics, Hung. Acad. Sci., Budapest, 1988), Finland (Institute of Material Chemistry, Univ. of Technology, Tampere, 1996), USA (Lawrence Livermore National Lab., Livermore, 1997), Singapore (DSO National Laboratories, Singapore, 2001), UK (Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, 2001, 2003-2006), Spain (University of Valencia, 2003, 2006-2009, 2012-2013), India (Central Glass and Ceramic Institute, 2008-2012), etc.

A.V.Kir’yanov is a Regular Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (since 2004); he is also a Member of the Optical Societies of America (since 1996; now – a Senior Member of the OSA), and a Member of the IEEE.
