Personal Information

Received his B.Sc. degree in physics and mathematics from the University of Michoacan, Mexico in 1982. He also obtained his M.Sc. degree in optics from the University of Guanajuato-CIO, Mexico in 1986, and his Ph.D. from Loughborough University of Technology, England in 1993. He was an associate professor in University of Michoacan from 1977 to 1987. Since 1988 he has been working at Centro de Investigaciones en Optica (CIO) of México as a full-time researcher. His research interest fields are optical non-destructive testing employing analogical and digital holography, speckle, and moiré techniques; also automatic digital fringe analysis, and computer vision. He is author of more than 80 publications in international journals with rigorous arbitrage. He is editor of a book and Guest editor of a Special Issue of the Journal Optics and Laser in Engineering (Elsevier, 2011). Furthermore, he had published four book chapters related with optical metrology. Dr. Rodriguez-Vera has been supervisor of more than 30 students making their thesis, at Undergraduate, Master, and PhD. levels. He is a member of the National Research System (SNI), Level III. He is a member also of the next institutions: Mexican Optical Academy (AMO), Mexican Physical Society (SMF), Mexican Science Academy (AMC), Optical Society of America (OSA), International Society for optics and Photonics (SPIE), and Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM). He was 2010-2012 SEM Executive Board member. Also, he was 2011-2012 AMO President. Finally, he belonged to 2010-2013 Editorial Board Member of the Journal Optics and Laser in Engineering. In the administrative aspect, Dr. Rodriguez-Vera had been Optics Laboratory Head of the Physics Laboratories UCIH-UMSNH, 1977-1984. Head of Physics and Mathematics Department in the UMSNH Chemical Pharmacy-Biologist Faculty, 1983-1984. Coordinator of the Physics Laboratories UCIH-UMSNH, 1983-1984. Administrative Assistant of Academic Formation at CIO, 1987-1988. Head of Classical Optics Department at CIO, 1988-1989. Head of Optical Metrology Group, CIO, 1993-1999. Director of Academic Formation, CIO, 1997-2000. Director of Investigation, CIO, 2002-2006.
