  • Laboratory of digital image processing

Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence

Summary:

The Laboratory of Digital Image Processing, Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence of Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica, CIO is a space dedicated to the research, development and innovation in computer-based architecture for the different techniques, mainly optical metrology systems.

Developments:

The laboratory include in the developments, in addition to digital image processing, other fields of knowledge such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, genetic algorithms, optimization, visual cryptography, mathematical morphology, among others.
Among the main research are, those that apply techniques that include three-dimensional scanning with projection of laser line and projection of fringe patterns and the development of software for image processing in general.

Activities:

The activities at the Laboratory of PDI are supported by scientific and technical staff with high level of knowledge and experience in the areas involved.
The laboratory has the primary purpose of supporting research that require the experimental part to corroborate and apply new optical techniques. However support is interdisciplinary and extends to solve other needs for some projects connected with industry and academic supports on CIO's graduate programs related with issues that the laboratory works.

Equipment:

The laboratory also has and operates with specialized equipment to captures and image processing (computers, cameras, capture cards, video cards, voltage output cards, optical accessories like lenses, microscopes, light sources, mechanical components, etc.).
